For as long as I can remember I have always been interested in all kinds of bikes. I can remember my first bike vividly, along with the wooden blocks on the pedals as it was a ‘hand me down’ from  a cousin . I soon grew into it.After bike number one I moved onto a 24 inchManchester-100-Mile_1480x1232 wheel 3 speed Sturmey Archer powered Vindec with cow horn handle bars and short mudguards … custom painted by my brother in lime green ..well it was the 70’s and he did win it for me off his mate in a fishing competition at the local canal

The Vindec served me well until a pretty heafty crash off a home made ramp snapped the frame and also my left arm …. Another visit to casualty.
Mt teenage years were spent on various home made racing bikes with frames from Carlton , Dawes , Peugeot  before the Mountain bike craze hit the UK …
Early off road was real fun , no suspension, no disc brakes but plenty of gears and a'Go Anywhere' attitude .. Peak District , Lake District, Cairngorms, really great fun .That Kona was something else.

I now ride mainly challenge rides like the C2C and other long distance routes , sportifs
and the lung busting LakeLand loop ….  These I do with family and friends as cycling really is the best way to keep fit and spend quality time with people who are special to you.
My wife and daughter are also keen cyclists , and have done a few  C2C ‘s , our daughter did her first aged 12  over 4 days and was pretty pleased with herself  !
We are Foster Carers and we always introduce the children we look after to
cycling , seeing the happy smiling faces of these kids either on their first bike , on the child seat or in the trailer is something really special and I hope something positive they will have to look back on.
One little girl who was successfully adopted after being in our care  joined us as we did the Hadriens Cycleway , smiling and sleeping her way  through each day as we passed the Roman forts … we took some great pictures of her at Vindalander  surrounded by Japanese tourists as they peered into her trailer in astonishment at how far she had travelled cocconed in her trailer sourrounded by teddies and supplies of nappies. Fantastic memories for her those pictures.

Hadrians-Soth-Shields_972x636Well , after 20 fantasticly enjoyable years working in Sales Management, running  sales teams and  selling great brands such as Heineken, Stella Artois , Boddingtons  working for celebraties such as Ken Hom and Ainsley Harriot and more recently being part of the UK coffee shop revolution managing a business channel for Costa Coffee I decided to leave it all behind me and start up myself … following my heart before its too late !!
So Bicycle Buddy was created  !!
